When Fathers Walk with God (Episode 98)
Tuesday Jul 09, 2024
Tuesday Jul 09, 2024
Fathers should be men who walk with God because God has called them to be the spiritual leader in their home. Although the father is not always the spiritual leader in the home these days, that does not change the fact that God has called fathers to be such. Accordingly, Paul the apostle writes, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4, NASB).
Each year in America, we celebrate Father’s Day. It is a special day because it is an occasion for us to give attention to the power of fatherhood. A father’s willingness or his unwillingness to walk with God affects the rest of the household. If the spiritual leader in the home is a no-show, it will negatively impact the family as a whole.
Today, we live in a world that’s spiritually out of control. It’s not because our leaders in Washington and at the state level and law enforcement at the local levels are not trying to get their arms around the problem. But a major problem is that these authorities can’t compensate for what’s not happening on the home front that should be happening at home. According to the Scriptures, fathers have a major role to play in this matter. Duration: 15:14

Fathers As Spiritual Leaders at Home (Episode 68)

Monday Aug 28, 2023
This podcast episode focuses on the importance of fathers being the source of spiritual strength in the home. Spiritual leadership is not normally what we associate with fatherhood. We normally think about fathers in physical terms. The father tends to be a person of impressive physical strength. He is the one who fixes things around the home. The father is normally expected to be the bread-winner for taking care of the family.
Paul writes, “If any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel” (1 Timothy 5:8, KJV). But contrary to popular opinion, a father’s day is not done when he leaves the work place. It is commendable that fathers work hard to take care of their family. But that’s not the end of a father’s day. As spiritual leaders in their home, fathers are to tend to the business of fatherhood and spiritual leadership daily and with diligence.
It goes without saying that if fathers are to be spiritual leaders in the home, they must first know the Lord themselves. No one can effectively lead In a way he doesn’t know or a way he doesn’t model. Duration 15:04
