Preparing for the Coming of the Lord (Episode 127)
Wednesday Feb 12, 2025
Wednesday Feb 12, 2025
Sad but true, many churchgoers today are not prepared for the coming of the Lord. Jesus warned us about that during His time on earth. He said, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’” (Matthew 7:22, NASB). “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you…’” (verse 23).
In this episode, Frank King addresses the importance of us being properly prepared for the coming of the Lord. People often talk passively about the Lord’s return. For instance, they may have a favorite verse they often quote about His return. Or they look at the signs of the times around us and say something like, we must be close to the Lord’s return. But the question is, how seriously do we take the idea of the coming of the Lord?
Jesus taught a parable about ten virgins going to meet the bridegroom (Matthew 25:1-13). Of course, the bridegroom is a foreshadow of Jesus. The virgins represent those who aspired to attend the marriage feast. The fact that they are referred to as virgins denotes their purity. Still, Jesus referred to five of the virgins as foolish.
These five failed to be adequately prepared to wait for and to meet the bridegroom. Unlike the wise virgins, they did not take enough oil for their lamps. Their lamps went out at the worst time possible. So, they could not go and meet the bridegroom at midnight. Accordingly, they missed out on attending the wedding feast.
The "Oil" We Need
In the parable, Jesus focused on the oil. The wise virgins took adequate oil for their lamps, but the foolish virgins didn’t. In the Bible, oil often represents the Holy Spirit. An analogy can be made between some churchgoers today and the foolish virgins. The latter were not prepared to meet the bridegroom because they had no oil. Similarly, any churchgoer who does not have the Spirit of God indwelling himself is not prepared for the coming of the Lord.
Jesus told Nicodemus, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3, KJV). Many people today attend church regularly. They join in singing songs of worship and praise, and they listen to the Word of God being preached. But they lack a born-again experience through Christ. They are like the five foolish virgins in this parable. It’s not an option. We must be born again. That’s how we get that spiritual oil, the Holy Spirit.
In the parable, all ten virgins went to meet the bridegroom. But the foolish virgins, to put it in modern-day language, were just playing church. They hung out with the real folks, but they themselves lacked diligence in preparing to meet the Lord. They chose to wing it and hoped it would turn out all right—but it didn’t.

The Second Coming of Christ (Episode 111)

Sunday Oct 13, 2024
There seems to be increasingly more concern about the end of the world these days. Perhaps these concerns are being driven by current events, such as killer hurricanes, earthquakes, terrorism, tension between world leaders, etc.
On the other hand, these concerns about the end of the world are not being taken seriously by most. They are not causing people to come running to the church and accept Christ. By and large, just the opposite appears to be happening.
Christians have been talking about the return of the Lord for hundreds of years. Meanwhile, this old world just keeps on turning. And then you have the false prophets of the world. They keep making false predictions about the rapture and the end of the world. These tend to gender indifference to the subject of the Lord’s return and of the end of the world.
Mockers in the Last Days
In his second letter, Apostle Peter writes to the believers about the day of the Lord. Based upon his language, this will be a horrific day marked by the second coming of Christ.
About that day Peter writes, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10, KJV).
Peter wrote the believers to stir up their remembrance of the words of the prophets and the apostles about this day. He warned them that mockers would come in the last days. They will mock the message of the day of the Lord’s return. God inspired Peter to address this subject to refute the naysayers and to affirm the certainty of the day of the Lord.
Only God Knows When
Of course, we have no idea when the second coming of Christ will occur. Neither do we know when the preceding event called the rapture of the church will occur. Jesus says only God knows the day or the hour. That’s why we should live each day as if the Lord will return today.
Also, that has some serious implications for the church. We must be diligent in the business of reaching the Lord. Because we don’t know the day or the hour the Lord is coming, we must regard soul-winning as a matter of urgency. But that’s not the attitude we see in most local churches today.
In John’s first epistle, he talks about the purifying effect upon those who look forward to the Lord’s return (1 John 3:2-3). The truth is that not everyone will be looking forward to that day. Only those who are prepared to meet Him will look forward to His return.

Always Be Ready for Christ’s Return (Episode 81)
Tuesday Jan 09, 2024
Tuesday Jan 09, 2024
If the Lord were to return this very moment, would you be ready? This is not a hypothetical question. During His public ministry, Jesus said that in the hour you think not, the Son of man will come (Matthew 24:44). Because of that uncertainty, we must always be ready for Christ's return.
In churches today, it’s vitally important that we preach and proclaim the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. For faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Far too many people who attend church regularly are too careless about being ready for Christ’s return. Perhaps it’s because we don’t preach that important message enough in our pulpits enough.
The most important decision to make in this life is where you will spend eternity. You will either spend it with the Lord or apart from Him. To spend it with the Lord is to to spend it in a place where death and sorrow will be no more. Moreover, the government will be upon the Lord's shoulder. But to be certain to go back with Him, you should live every day in readiness for Christ's return.

The Return of the Lord (Episode 39)
Saturday Jan 07, 2023
Saturday Jan 07, 2023
Christians have been talking about the return of the Lord Jesus Christ for hundreds of years. Still, millions of people today live as if we were born just to live and then die, end of story. But that’s not the end of the story. The Bible declares that Jesus Christ is coming again, and every one of us will have to meet Him.
Even in the local church today, there seems to be a lack of a sense of urgency regarding the return of the Lord. This can be seen in our lack of diligence to win the lost. Also, in our increasing desire to conform to this world. Even in the message that we preach our pulpits. How often do you hear your pastor preach about the return of the Lord and the need to be prepared?
Perhaps we have been talking about His return so long that many now take it for granted. That's why at times, we need to be stirred about what we already know. This podcast episode aims to do that with regard to the Lord's return.
We must not allow ourselves to become infected with the spirit of this world that mocks the promised return of the Lord Jesus Christ. A day will occur when this world, as we currently know it, will cease to exist. We don’t know when that fateful day will be. That’s why Jesus taught His disciples to live each day in readiness for His return.
