The Problem with Judging Others (Episode 55)
Saturday May 13, 2023
Saturday May 13, 2023
Today, we live in an extremely judgmental society. We are so quick to weigh in on others. But what does the Bible teach us about that? During His public ministry, Jesus had some things to say about this all-important subject.
As for judging others, people often quote the words of Jesus when He said, “Do not judge so that you will not be judged” (Matthew 7:1, NASB). Many take those words to mean we should never judge. Some people use those words to suppress judgment from others. But we must be careful to not simply utilize one verse in the Bible to form our theological view on a matter. Rather, we should look at the total biblical picture. For instance, in another place, Jesus says we should not judge according to appearance, but we should judge with righteous judgment (John 7:24).
This podcast episode addresses the problem with judging others. We can exercise righteous judgment only by way of the Word of God and by being led by the Holy Spirit. If we use ourselves or our personal perspectives as the standard for judging others, they will be flawed. That’s because even though we are born again, we are still human. And the human perspective is extremely flawed.

The Importance of Guarding Your Heart (Episode 54)
Monday May 08, 2023
Monday May 08, 2023
We all know how vitally important the human heart is. Our entire physical well-being depends on its life-giving and life--sustaining blood. That's why maintaining a healthy heart is so important. When your heart is not healthy, neither is the rest of your body.
Equally important, when the Bible refers to your heart, it is referring to the very core of your being. It is the essence of who you are. Guarding your heart is important because your entire life is shaped by what flows from your heart.
Today, like never before, so much exists out there trying to negatively influence what you do, the way you think, and how you view life. That’s why the proverb writer says you should guard your heart: "Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life" (Proverbs 4:23, NASB). That means the things you allow into our heart will shape the core of your being and in turn become the wellspring for your life.
Many today try to argue that no correlation exists between their spiritual status and the things they feed upon. But it’s not possible to sow all negative stuff in your spirit and still reap positive outflow from your heart to shape your life.

Hope for the Hopeless (Episode 53)
Saturday Apr 29, 2023
Saturday Apr 29, 2023
One definition for the word hopeless is “having no possibility of solution.” Many people today find themselves living in a state of despair. It does not matter if a situation is truly hopeless, or it is imagined to be so. To the person who feels a sense of hopelessness, no difference exists between real and imagined hopelessness.
The message of Jesus Christ is called the gospel because it is the good news. This message of faith in God and His word has the power to give hope for the hopeless. Wherever Jesus went during His public ministry, multitudes thronged Him. To Him, nothing was impossible. Rather, "All things are possible to him who believes" (Mark 9:23, NASB). It was this bold outlook on life that undergirded His message and transformed lives. Our world today desperately needs to hear that same gospel. That this is true becomes evident when you watch your favorite national news network.
No alternative to the gospel of Jesus Christ exists for giving hope for the hopeless. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). When we have faith in God, nothing is hopeless because with God nothing is impossible. No situation exists for which we can’t find hope and a way forward through faith in God and His Word.

The Power of Godliness (Episode 51)
Saturday Apr 08, 2023
Saturday Apr 08, 2023
In simplest terms, to be godly means to be Christlike. Godliness denotes a deep reverence for God. Based upon that simple definition, every Christian should pursue a life of godliness. It is the means by which we become more like Christ, the One whose ways we are to emulate.
It is true that we are saved by grace and not by how we live or by the things we do. None of us can live good enough to earn salvation. But that does not nullify the case for godly living. In 2 Timothy, chapter 3, Paul writes about the difficult times of the last days. He says that in those days, men will have a form of godliness but deny the power of it (2 Timothy 3:5). The resulting problem is that if one denies the power of godliness, he will lack conviction to live a godly life.
People today are looking for evidence of the difference Christ can make in a person’s life. It’s one thing to say you are a Christian. It’s another thing to positively impact others by your life even when you don’t advertise your Christianity. Therein lies the power of godliness.

The Message of the Cross (Episode 50)
Saturday Apr 01, 2023
Saturday Apr 01, 2023
Evangelist Frank King addresses the preaching of the cross. During this time we call Easter or Resurrection Day, preachers everywhere are preaching about the cross. That is not to suggest that the cross is a seasonal message, because it’s not. On the contrary, the preaching of the cross lies at the heart of the gospel. For in the Bible, all roads lead to the cross.
The message of the cross includes the bodily resurrection of Christ. For Paul writes, "If Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins" (1 Corinthians 15:17, KJV). But we rejoice in the bodily resurrection of Christ because Jesus was raised again. And because He lives, those who believe in Him will live forever as well. Sad but true, if it were not for the Easter holiday, many churchgoers would seldom if ever hear the message of the cross.
Christ’s death at Calvary was a horrific sight. For our sins and not His own, He went to the cross to die a barbaric death. The holiness of God demanded that the sins of the world be judged. The bloodiness of Calvary and the ugliness of the crucifixion were a reflection of the seriousness of our sins against a holy God. Duration 11:48

The Doctrine of the Grace of God (Episode 49)
Saturday Mar 18, 2023
Saturday Mar 18, 2023
What if the cost of salvation was so high that some people could not afford it? The good news is that we are saved by the grace of God. Accordingly, anybody who wants to be saved can afford to be saved. The grace of God is not an option but a must for salvation. "By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight" (Romans 3:19, KJV). Our attempt to be justified through obeying God's many commandments will do no more than cause us to see our need for a Savior.
In this episode, Frank King focuses on God's amazing grace. Grace refers to those things that are unmerited. In other words, those things that can’t be earned by good works or purchased with money. Salvation is a gift from God. He loved the world so much that He sent His Son to die in our stead so that whoever believes in Him would have eternal life. This is God's simple plan for salvation.
Jesus was the only one worthy to die on the cross to redeem us. Everyone who places his faith in His redemptive work on the cross is saved by grace through faith in Him. The grace of God is a humbling thing because no one can boast about his or her salvation. We can get to heaven only by trusting in what Jesus did on the cross for us.

Believe Not Every Spirit (Episode 48)
Saturday Mar 11, 2023
Saturday Mar 11, 2023
Many voices exist among us. All of them claim to be telling the truth, and so many people are confused. That is the state of our world today. This episode addresses the reality of false prophets and our need to be more discerning about what we hear. False prophets claim to be sent by God but were not. They claim to be saying what God told them to say when He did not.
Even during the days of the apostles, false prophets were a problem. In 1 John 4:1, John writes, “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (NASB). John juxtaposes false prophets with those who are sent by God. We must be able to discern one from the other. That means we should not openly believe every person who comes before us in the name of the Lord.
As we draw closer to the return of our Lord, false prophets will become a bigger problem. It will become increasingly important for us to heed God's warning for us to not believe every spirit. "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24:24, NASB).

You Can Always Come Back to God (Episode 47)
Sunday Mar 05, 2023
Sunday Mar 05, 2023
Just as it is true of our biological family, God’s family is not a perfect family. Just because you are a Christian does not mean you can’t blow it at times. Sometimes, we allow life or people or things to get the best of us. The devil would love nothing more than to cause us to become overwhelmed with the guilt of our moral failures.
But no matter how far we stray from the Lord, or how deeply we fall, we can always come back to God. We can always repent and revive our walk with Him. That is the story of the parable of the prodigal son that Jesus taught. Furthermore, Jesus says, all of heaven rejoices when a sinner repents and returns to God.
Though we can always come back to God, this does not mean we should take sin lightly. Even under the grace dispensation under which we stand, it is God's will that we walk uprightly before Him at all times.
Because God is holy, He hates sin, but He loves sinners. Needless to say, it displeases Him when those who name the name of Christ practice sin. Still, the good news is that we can always come back to God. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, KJV).

Introduction to the Book of the Revelation (Episode 46)
Saturday Feb 25, 2023
Saturday Feb 25, 2023
Two prominent attitudes toward the book of the Revelation exist. One, it’s too hard to understand. And two, it’s too scary. For these reasons, some believers shun the reading of this book. But the intent of this last book of the Bible is not to scare us but to inform us. We should value the book of the Revelation. It gives us the most comprehensive record of the fate of the world. This podcast episode gives a brief overview of the book.
Our Lord is omniscient. He knows the end from the beginning. He instructed John to record the things that are, and the things that will occur in the future (Revelation 1:19). The awesome thing about the book of the Revelation is that in it, history was written over 1900 years ago. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to change the course of history recorded in this book. We do well to heed its warnings, and the implications thereof found in the book.
We need not be troubled by what’s going on in our world. These things don’t suggest that God is not in control. On the contrary, because He revealed these end-time prophecies over 1900 years ago, the turbulent times of our day only confirm that God is in control.

Christ Died to Set Us Free from Legalism (Episode 45)
Saturday Feb 18, 2023
Saturday Feb 18, 2023
Jesus came to set us free. When He died, He delivered us from the penalty of sin. He also died to deliver us from the bondage of sin. "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine. And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free," Jesus said (John 8:31-32, NASB).
This podcast episode focuses on something else that Jesus died to deliver us from. That is to set us free from the bondage of legalism. This term refers to the dos and don'ts and the traditions of men and religion that negatively impact our relationship with God. For instance, some church leaders believe woman should not wear pants or wear jewelry. Or that a more contemporary style of worship has no place in the house of God. The list goes on and on and on.
Through His death, Christ nailed legalism to the cross to set us free. Sad but true, many Christians still subject themselves to the bondage of legalism. It is important to note that not all ordinances of men and religion are bad in and of themselves. But we must give no ground to those that negatively impact our liberty in Christ. Or those that, if we were to obey them, have the effect of making the Lord's commandments null and void in our life.
